Federal agencies, accrediting associations, grant foundations, college guides, and the media ask us to provide statistical information on the ethnic and racial identity of our students and employees. In order to respond to these requests, we ask you to answer the following two questions (which are based on federal guidelines).
The US Standards for the Classification of Federal Data on Race and Identity classify a person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin, regardless of race, as "Hispanic or Latino".
American Indian or Alaska Native: "A person having origins in any of the original peoples of North and South America (including Central America), and who maintains tribal affiliation or community attachment."
